Suns Big Man Mark Williams Steps Up With Booker Out to get Win at Home cover image

Phoenix Suns hold off late rally by Nets to get the win at home.

For the second game in a row the Suns are without veteran leader Devin Booker. To add to the injuries Phoenix is also without role player and three-point threat Colin Gillespie. These injuries are forcing the Suns depth players to step up, despite the short-handed rotation.

Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams had one of his most efficient games of the season.

Williams scored a season-high 27 points on 13 of 15 shooting. Mark Williams presence in the key opened lanes for his teammates and kept the Suns competitive when the Nets had a late surge.

With the normal offensive weapons being sidelined in this matchup, the Suns found consistency in Williams controlling the paint.

The Suns big men stepped up in dominating the interior against Brooklyn putting up 72 points in the key.

Dillon Brooks also stepped up being pivotal in this game for the Suns. Brooks had 26 points and was energetic on both sides of the ball.

Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets in scoring with 36 points, keeping Brooklyn in striking distance throughout the game.

Porter Jr. was able to surge his team to take a lead very briefly from the Suns late in the fourth quarter.

The score was tied late in the game, a scramble for a loose ball in the paint led to a physical altercation involving multiple players from both sides.

Officials gave out technical fouls with no expulsions and play continued with no further drama.

It was Grayson Allen with a strong take to the hole with under a minute left in the game, considered to be the dagger that gave the Suns momentum to go on and win this game at home.

Phoenix would hold on to win 106-102 at home over the Brooklyn Nets.
