San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox is seemingly turning into a serious trade target for the Phoenix Suns.

All-Star guard De'Aaron Fox had a disappointing postseason with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging just 15.6 points on 41.4% shooting.

Alternatively, rookie guard Dylan Harper thrived off the bench, recording 14.1 points per game on 51.5% shooting. This creates a dilemma for the Spurs' front office that could very well end with Fox being put on the trade block.

If Fox is made available, the Phoenix Suns are a potential suitor. On top of multiple trade proposals being thrown around in recent days, the rumors are gaining some real momentum with senior NBA reporter for The Athletic Sam Vecenie naming them as a landing spot for the two-time All-Star.

"Here's the team that I think you can very easily make a case for doing this: Phoenix. Phoenix probably wants a point guard. I know that they could easily re-sign Colin Gillespie, but Colin Gillespie can be like an elite sixth man in the NBA," Vecenie said on the Game Theory Podcast. "You could pretty easily do something around like Jalen Green, Grayson Allen, or you could do Jalen Green and Royce O'Neale."

In terms of fit and talent, this hypothetical deal makes perfect sense for the Suns.

Fox, a true point guard, would likely mesh much better alongside franchise cornerstone Devin Booker than Green did in the 2025-2026 season. Despite the rough playoff showing, the 28-year-old is still plenty skilled on both ends of the floor. He averaged 18.6 points, 6.2 assists, and 1.2 steals on 48.6% shooting in 72 games in the regular season.

The only major drawback to Phoenix landing Fox is his contract. He begins a four-year, $221 million deal next season, which, if the duo of him and Booker does not pan out, could leave the front office stuck with that money on their books till it expires.

From the Spurs' perspective, this scenario allows Harper to take on the starting job that he is clearly ready for while also adding an elite bench scorer in Green.
