The Phoenix Suns are bringing back guard Jordan Goodwin on a long-term contract.

The Phoenix Suns are re-signing another key free agent just a day after retaining breakout guard Collin Gillespie.

Per ESPN's Shams Charania, guard Jordan Goodwin intends to sign a three-year, $19 million contract to return to the Suns.

"Free agent guard Jordan Goodwin intends to sign a three-year, $19 million deal to return to the Phoenix Suns, with a player option in the third season, sources tell ESPN," Charania posted to X. "Goodwin made the Suns roster out of training camp on a non-guaranteed contract and emerged as a key reserve and culture fit, averaging 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and a team-high 106 total steals."

This is another great move by Phoenix's front office.

Goodwin is a high-energy, defensive-minded guard who is also capable of contributing on the offensive end of the floor. He is constantly the first player on the floor for loose balls, always looking for a convenient steal, and isn't afraid to guard the other team's best player. Those are the kind of players that contribute to championship contenders.

While the Suns are still quite far away from seriously competing in the loaded Western Conference, their efforts to retain last year's 45-win core are obvious. The hope is undoubtedly to improve that win total enough next season to secure a guaranteed playoff spot.

Goodwin, along with Gillespie, will play crucial roles in the Suns' rotation next season, whether it's as starters or off the bench.

Charania continued, "In consecutive days, the Suns land multiyear agreements to keep two young guards in Goodwin and Collin Gillespie whom the franchise developed over the last year. Goodwin's agents at Klutch Sports, Shy Saee and Mike George, landed the deal Sunday, a week after free agents became eligible to negotiate with their own teams."

"Next order of business for the Suns: retaining restricted free agent Mark Williams," Charania concluded.

With Goodwin and Gillespie locked up for the foreseeable future, attention fully turns to the 2026 NBA Draft as well as negotiating with Williams.
