The Phoenix Suns are predicted to bring back guard Jordan Goodwin, according to one NBA insider.
Guard Collin Gillespie and center Mark Williams are the Phoenix Suns' most important free agents this offseason.
However, that does not mean negotiating a new contract with backcourt piece Jordan Goodwin should go overlooked. The 27-year-old appeared in 70 games for Phoenix this season, averaging 8.7 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals on 41.3% shooting and 37.1% shooting from three-point range.
The positive news for Suns fans is NBA insider Michael Scotto expects the Suns to retain Goodwin.
"I do look at Jordan Goodwin coming back," Scotto said on Suns After Dark. "That's what most people around the league are believing at this point. I gotta be honest though, his market's hard to peg. I certainly think he could be more than a minimum guy, but like where does he fall? I could tell you the prevailing thought is that he will be back as well in Phoenix."
The expectation as of now is Goodwin will act as a key contributor to the Suns' second unit. He did start 10 games in the 2025-2026 campaign but did the majority of his work coming off the bench.
Goodwin possesses elite rebounding traits for a player of his size, recording 4.9 rebounds per game this season. He is 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. It's also worth mentioning 2.0 of those rebounds per game came on the offensive glass.
He is also widely seen as a pest on the defensive end, oftentimes racking up deflections and steals throughout games. His shooting from the outside has greatly improved throughout his time in the NBA, going from a less than 30.0% three-point shooter in 2024 to just over 37.0% this season.
What hurts his market value is his inability to create his own shot, attack the paint, and act as a playmaker.
As Scotto mentioned, his free agency market is hard to gauge. It's entirely possible another team could force the Suns to increase their offer to higher than originally expected to keep him around.
