A Phoenix Suns analyst believes the team could trade for Hornets forward Miles Bridges after Charlotte's recent blockbuster trade involving LaMelo Ball.
The Phoenix Suns drafted a power forward in former Arizona Wildcat Koa Peat, but he is unlikely to assume the starting role right away.
This means the Suns still need a true '4' for next season.
One blockbuster trade Phoenix could become a beneficiary of occurred on Thursday morning, as the Charlotte Hornets sent All-Star guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves for big man Naz Reid and draft capital.
Suns analyst Benjamin Garcia believes the organization could look to acquire Hornets star forward Miles Bridges now that Reid is likely to start in the frontcourt for Charlotte.
"I’d keep an eye on Miles Bridges and the Suns. Naz Reid should be the starting PF now with the Hornets imo," Garcia posted to X. "Charlotte lost some shooting, Grayson [Allen] and [Ryan] Dunn could be the package. Plus, the MSU connection. No, I don’t want him here but I see the framework."
Bridges, age 28, is an athletic forward who stands 6-foot-7, 225 pounds. He may not be the true power forward the Suns are likely seeking, but he is still a great piece to have. In the 2025-2026 season, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on 46.0% shooting and 33.3% shooting from three-point range in 77 games.
If the Suns acquire him, they could roll out a starting lineup of Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Brooks, Bridges, and potentially Mark Williams with Collin Gillespie, Jordan Goodwin, and others coming off the bench.
By no means is that team a championship contender, especially in the loaded Western Conference, but the Suns could certainly battle for a playoff spot.
More important than finding a real '4' should be acquiring a true point guard to pair alongside Booker. The Suns' franchise cornerstone was at his best when Chris Paul was his running mate in the backcourt.
If the price to acquire Bridges is nothing more than Allen and Dunn due to the Hornets' acquisition of Reid, the Suns should certainly consider negotiating a deal with Charlotte.
