A blockbuster deal could pair Devin Booker with defensive powerhouse Anthony Davis, sacrificing young depth to transform Phoenix into an immediate title contender in the Western Conference.

The Phoenix Suns are looking for more as the third full season under the control of  governor Mat Ishbia takes shape.

While the Suns aren't shaping up to be a contender in the 2026-27 season, they are on an upward trajectory - especially considering the position they were in just over one year ago.

While the avenues to tangible improvement largely rest in internal development, there are a small handful of blockbuster trades that would shift the fortunes of the franchise immediately.

Among the possible trades is 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis, who is seemingly leaving the door open for a trade to escape the Washington Wizards by shelving contract extension talks.

While a trade might seem far-fetched at the moment, there is a distinct possibility that the Suns will have an opportunity to pair franchise player Devin Booker with another transcendent star - explore a trade package that could get the job done below.

Suns Receive: Anthony Davis

Wizards Receive: Jalen Green, Collin Gillespie, Khaman Maluach, Jordan Goodwin, 2027/2028 second round picks

The trade that sent Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards featured two first-round picks going to the former, so this inherently forces the Suns to sacrifice valuable assets on the NBA roster in the process. Green potentially creates a logjam in the Washington backcourt, but is the only salary that comes close to matching, and he could be served well by playing alongside Wizards PG Trae Young.

Gillespie and Goodwin would immediately become impact players for a Wizards team that is running low on time to show patience for players such as Bub Carrington and Bilal Couliabaly, while Maluach would form a duo with Alex Sarr that has potential to terrify the NBA in the years to come.

On the Suns' side, acquiring Davis would gift Booker his third superstar teammate of his 11-year career. Davis perhaps raises the Phoenix ceiling more than either Kevin Durant or Chris Paul, as he remains an all-world defender that would instantly project to be Phoenix's second-leading scorer as well. Davis would also serve as a mentor to players such as Koa Peat and Rasheer Fleming - prospects that the Phoenix organization are bullish on moving forward.

Would bringing Davis to Phoenix lead to the Suns being considered a legitimate title contender? The on-court product would have to be seen first before any conclusions are drawn, but there would be little doubt that a healthy Davis pulls Phoenix closer to contention than they have been since May of 2023.
