Suns' Devin Booker in Attendance for Team USA’s World Cup Victory Over Australia

The United States defeated Australia 2-0 on Friday, as their undefeated start to the World Cup continues.

The USMNT previously defeated Paraguay with a final score of 4-1, and they are in prime position to win Group D entering their final group matchup against Turkey.

Among those in attendance to see the USA triumph past Australia was Phoenix Suns guard and NBA superstar Devin Booker. The Suns' X account posted a photo of Booker meeting up with retired NFL legend Marshawn Lynch at the match.

Booker supporting his nation's soccer/football team should not come as a surprise, as he was among those to suit up for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He, alongside LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and others, brought home the gold medal in basketball in 2024. He also won a gold medal in 2020.

The superstar guard has already proven his worth to the city of Phoenix, being named a five-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection since being drafted by the Suns in 2015.

Booker is also making an effort to do the same on the international stage, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him on Team USA's roster in 2028 as well.

Unfortunately for Booker, his prime is seemingly wasting away with the Suns, as they have not made it past the first round of the NBA playoffs since 2023. The hope for the front office is undoubtedly to replicate the success found in 2021, when they reached the NBA Finals before falling short against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The key to success from that postseason run was putting a true playmaker in Chris Paul alongside Booker. So, the organization should be looking to do the same this offseason, potentially by trading for Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant or San Antonio Spurs' De'Aaron Fox.

While Booker is spending some time supporting his nation at the World Cup, the Suns' front office is busy preparing for next week's NBA Draft and the upcoming free agency.
