A Phoenix Suns insider believes there is no chance the organization trades for Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant.

The Phoenix Suns' front office has arguably been the busiest in the NBA so far this offseason.

The Suns already agreed to new contracts with center Mark Williams and guards Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin. Fast forward to Sunday, Phoenix acquired Charlotte Hornets star forward Miles Bridges in a major trade.

With all these moves, there is still one glaring need: a true starting point guard.

Because of this void in the rotation, many have linked the Suns to Memphis Grizzlies two-time All-Star Ja Morant. After the Bridges deal, a fan proposed a trade that would send star guard Jalen Green to the Grizzlies for Morant and the Suns' 2031 first-round pick.

Suns insider John Gambadoro shut down this possibility, responding to the post on X by writing, "No chance on Ja - this one is a zero."

Most were upset to hear Morant is reportedly off the table for the Suns, as he remains one of the more talented points guards across the league. In the 2025-2026 campaign, the 26-year-old averaged 19.5 points and 8.1 assists on 41.0% shooting but appeared in just 20 games.

His availability, along with off-court issues, are the biggest concerns with potentially acquiring Morant and his lucrative five-year, $197 million deal he is in the midst of.

Still, if the Suns' goal is to compete in the loaded Western Conference, it may be a risk worth taking.

Morant would add another dimension to Phoenix's offense because of his athleticism and aggressiveness while also pairing franchise cornerstone Devin Booker alongside a true playmaker. Booker was arguably at his best in 2021 when Chris Paul, a true point guard, was his running mate.

A starting lineup of Morant, Booker, Dillon Brooks, Bridges, and Williams undoubtedly sounds appealing. Would it be able to compete with the likes of the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder? It feels unlikely, but it's hard to argue that Morant with a fresh start wouldn't make the Suns a better team overall.
