The Phoenix Suns could end up winners of a Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster trade.

The Phoenix Suns are not among teams mentioned in the trade sweepstakes for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, but that does not mean they cannot benefit from the blockbuster deal if/when it happens.

The Suns could absolutely get involved as a third team in an Antetokounmpo trade.

Suns After Dark proposed a three-team deal between the Bucks, Suns, and Miami Heat that would land NBA champion big man Bobby Portis in Phoenix. The pitched details are as follows:

Suns receive: Bobby Portis

Heat receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Royce O'Neale

Bucks receive: Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks via MIA (2026, 2030, and 2032)

This would be a huge win for the Suns.

O'Neale has been a consistent contributor to Phoenix's rotation over the last two and a half seasons, but Portis would add another dimension to the rotation. The Bucks' NBA champion is a '4' or '5' capable of stretching the floor at an elite level, which is a trait that does not currently exist in the Suns' frontcourt led by Mark Williams (free agent) and Khaman Maluach.

By trading for Portis, there's an argument to be made that Williams' services may no longer be needed in Phoenix. If that's the case, it would pave the way for the Suns to bring in an appealing free agent of their choosing.

In the 2025-2026 season, Portis averaged 13.7 points and 6.4 rebounds on 48.8% shooting and 45.6% shooting from three-point range in 67 appearances. It's worth noting he's a bit small to play the center position, coming in at 6-foot-9, 250 pounds.

For the Heat, they are obvious victors of this trade by winning the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes while also adding a rotational piece in the process in O'Neale.

Milwaukee isn't getting the strongest return for an arguable top-five player in the world, but pieces such as Jaquez and Ware could help kickstart its rebuild.

All this is to say, if the Suns have the opportunity to help facilitate an Antetokounmpo trade, they should jump at the chance to do so.
