Savor the final glimpse of OKC hoops before the fall. Watch Aday Mara and Bennett Stirtz headline a four-game slate before the offseason whirlwind finally goes quiet.
Just a friendly pro tip for every Oklahoma City Thunder fan: try to soak up and enjoy the upcoming four game Summer League slate in Las Vegas.
The reason is simple for any and all diehard OKC hoops junkies. After this foursome of offseason exhibition games, there will be no Thunder basketball to watch until the 2026-2027 preseason tips off in October.
Thunder fans have had nonstop content to enjoy for nearly two years running now. Beginning with the 2024-2025 Thunder Media Day, it has been a virtual continuous highlight reel. OKC stormed through that season on the way to the #1 overall seed, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won MVP, Jalen Williams became an All-Star, the Thunder won their first NBA title, there was a parade, the team drafted Thomas Sorber, Ajay Mitchell and Nikola Topic popped off at Summer League, the offseason was filled with uninterrupted championship articles, podcasts and video clips for the rest of the short summer, OKC then stormed through last season on the way to the #1 overall seed, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won another MVP, Chet Holmgren became an All-Star, the Thunder came up just short of a return trip to the NBA Finals, the team drafted Aday Mara, Bennett Stirtz and Otega Oweh and now Summer League is here.
But after next week, the Thunder whirlwind stops.
After 22 months of constant OKC content, there will be over two months of dog days of summer doldrums.
So one RoundTable writer's advice is to try to check out these young players hooping over the next week if you get the chance. Each of the four games will be nationally televised on either Prime Video or ESPN.
Mara is a big man with elite rim protection skills, great scoring ability in the paint and uncanny playmaking that is incredibly fun to watch from a player who stands 7'3" barefoot. Stirtz is a shooter with unlimited range, a high feel game processor and a pick and roll maestro. Oweh is an aggressive, handsy defender with loads of athleticism and hops. Two way players Brooks Barnhizer and Josh Dix and former two way player Payton Sandfort round out OKC's notable prospects playing in Las Vegas.
