Two wins secure the top seed for the Thunder, cementing a historic season and a legacy rivaling NBA giants.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have only four games remaining in the 2025-2026 regular season.
If the Thunder come away with wins in just two of those contests, they will have reeled off three consecutive seasons of finishing as the #1 seed in the stacked Western Conference. It would also mark two straight seasons of ending as the #1 overall seed in the league. And it would match Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls of the 90's and Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors of the 2010's as the only three teams to win 64 or more games in back to back seasons.
While anything can happen in the NBA on any given night, it would be considerably shocking if OKC doesn't lock up the #1 seed at this point. Not only are the Thunder the best and arguably hottest team in the league, but the final four opponents are not nearly as daunting given current context as they would seem on paper.
OKC Thunder remaining schedule.
Thunder @ Lakers. Tuesday, April 7. This team in its present form is not at all the same team that rolled into Oklahoma City last Thursday. That squad was red hot. It had all the hype and buzz powered by hundreds of television programs, podcasts and radio shows shouting things such as "MVP" and "title contenders". Unfortunately, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have been diagnosed with regular season ending injuries. While still tentatively hanging on to the #3 seed, the team that OKC plays tomorrow night in Los Angeles will be headlined by 41 year old (but still very good!) LeBron James and a host of limited role players.
Thunder @ Clippers. Wednesday, April 8. Despite trading away James Harden and Ivica Zubac at the deadline, LA's other team has remained competitive. Darius Garland and Bennedict Mathurin have given the Clippers an on-the-fly scoring punch around Kawhi Leonard, who is having one of his best seasons of his career. The Thunder have to play the night before this one. But so will the Clippers. There's a chance Los Angeles plays it safe so close to the playoffs and rests their superstar on the second night of a back to back.
Thunder @ Nuggets. Friday, April 10. Oklahoma City is 3-0 against Denver this season, but each game was close. Thunder have won by 3 points in OKC, won in overtime in OKC and won by 10 in Denver. If OKC has already secured the #1 seed, there's a solid chance they rest all their starters and maybe assist the Nuggets getting the #3 seed. San Antonio and Denver on the other side of the bracket is the ideal scenario. If both teams play all their guys, this will end up like every other Thunder vs Nuggets game we've seen the last couple years: a stressful two and a half hours for both fanbases.
Suns @ Thunder. Sunday, April 12. The hope for OKC fans is that the regular season finale will be meaningless. If the Thunder have not locked up the #1 seed yet, though, there is still some good news. There is a good chance that this game will be meaningless for Phoenix.
