Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren each signed long-term extensions this summer that will keep the star trio in Oklahoma City until the end of the 2030-2031 season. That’s great news for Thunder fans because their favorite team locked up arguably the best Big 3 in the NBA for the next six years.
Which begs the question: is this Thunder threesome in fact the greatest currently in the league today?
Top 5 NBA Big 3s for 2025-2026
Honorable Mentions: Minnesota Timberwolves. Cleveland Cavaliers. Los Angeles Clippers. New York Knicks. Orlando Magic. Atlanta Hawks.
5. Golden State Warriors: Steph Curry/Jimmy Butler/Draymond Green. Sure, they need to be in bed before 9 pm and may be more interested in watching reruns of Murder She Wrote than watching game film, but the old guys can still play. The Warriors looked like a Western Conference heavyweight in the games in which these three shared the court together.
4. Los Angeles Lakers: Luka Doncic/LeBron James/Austin Reaves. The new face of the NBA’s most glamorous franchise is a consensus top 5 player. The co-face of the franchise is a top 2 player of all time and somehow still a top 10-ish player in his age 41 season. The final member of the Lakers’ Big 3 is a very good, but not yet great, third wheel.
3. Houston Rockets: Kevin Durant/Amen Thompson/Alperen Sengun. Swapping out Jalen Green, an up-and-down volume scorer, for Kevin Durant, one of the greatest scorers in hoops history, takes the Rockets from outside the Top 10 into the Top 3. Thompson is already one of the league’s best defenders and is only scratching the surface. And Sengun is one of the NBA’s most talented offensive big men.
2. Denver Nuggets: Nikola Jokic/Jamal Murray/Aaron Gordon. Obviously, the Serbian 7-footer and three-time MVP is carrying a lot of weight here. But the “never played with an All-Star teammate” stuff is a bit overblown. While neither Murray nor Gordon has ever been selected, both are All-Star caliber players.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander/Jalen Williams/Chet Holmgren. It’s hard to argue against a Big 3 that won an NBA title at 26, 24 and 23 years old. One is the reigning MVP. Another is an All-Star/All-NBA/All-Defensive selection. And the other will be a top two Defensive Player of the Year candidate for the rest of that contract he just inked, while flirting with 40% shooting from deep. OKC’s Big 3 is the best in the NBA... and should only get better.
