Own a piece of history! Topps randomly inserts rare Shai Gilgeous-Alexander autographed cards, even a 1-of-1, into new base card purchases.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished Oklahoma City’s win over Boston with 35 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field. It was the 127th consecutive regular season game that he scored at least 20 points, which broke the all-time record of 126 games previously held by Wilt Chamberlain. The next non-Chamberlain players on the list are Oscar Robertson (79), Michael Jordan (72) and Kevin Durant (72).

It’s always special when a player breaks one of Chamberlain’s records given his absurd stats, and Topps is celebrating the accomplishment with a trading card sale.

The main headliner is a 1-of-1 trading card that has an on-card autograph by Gilgeous-Alexander with the following additional inscription: “127 & Counting. 3.12.26”. The card also contains a piece of the net from the bucket that broke Chamberlain’s record.

Another prized 1-of-1 insertion is a dual-autographed trading card with an on-card autograph from Gilgeous-Alexander and a cut autograph from Chamberlain. For context, a cut autograph is when someone had previously signed something (like a piece of paper) and that’s inserted into the card. Chamberlain obviously cannot sign the card himself because he passed away on Oct. 12, 1999.

Topps will also randomly include 10 relic redemption trading cards and five autograph-relic redemption trading cards. This makes a total of 17 relic or autographed trading cards when including the two main headliners above.

Plus, there will also be 91 total parallel trading cards (non-autographed).

Here is the important point to grasp before potentially making a purchase. According to Topps, “collectors who purchase the base edition of this card have a chance of receiving relics and autographs with their order.” In other words, you cannot directly buy these autographed cards from the link. Topps will insert autographs, relics and parallels into a fraction of the base card orders, so your odds of receiving one are very slim given the small supply. The base cards may be a fun addition to collections, but do not expect an autograph in your order.

Topps also claims that “parallels or other non-base card hits will replace the base card in your order. Odds of hitting a non-base card are based on total cards ordered.” Therefore, purchasing more base cards theoretically increases your chances of receiving a non-base card. But again, do not expect to receive an autograph no matter how many base cards you order.

Here’s the link to purchase base cards, which gives you a very small chance of also receiving an autographed card in your order. The promotion ends on March 15, so the link is active for one more day or until they sell out.
