Julius Randle is putting on a career performance in his second season with Minnesota.
The Minnesota Timberwolves dominated the Utah Jazz Friday night with a 137-97 victory atop a bright neon green Minnesota court for the group stage of the NBA Cup.
Anthony Edwards took over the game with 37 points while three other Timberwolves turned in double-digit performances.
The Timberwolves have had a middle-of-the-road start to the season with a 5-4 record, ut players like Edwards, McDaniels, Gobert and Randle have been having standout years. Randle in particular was given a lot of credit by Edwards in the postgame for the way he's been able to operate defensively and facilitate scoring for the whole team.

He's been getting everyone involved. He had another triple double tonight. So, he's been great for us," Edwards said (via Timberwolves).
Julius Randle's Contributions
Randle brings a distinct veteran presence to the Timberwolves roster. He joined Minnesota last season, but before that he was the star operator for the New York Knicks for five seasons as the third team he played for in his NBA career.
Being the figurehead of a team for so long lends itself to playmaking ability. Randle was not only looking out for himself, but he was making things happen for the entire team both offensively and defensively.

"I think Julius initiates it. Like I said, he's the key to everybody's success. He can create shots for everybody and also himself. Me being able to create for myself I think helps everything that he does, so, we've been great together."
Two Wolves in a Pack
Edwards and Randle have proved to be a dangerous duo. Combined they average 52.6 points per game while playing at two crucial positions. The veteran small forward and young shooting guard are shaping up to be a formidable pairing throughout the league.
Individually, Randle is clearly thriving in Minnesota. Through the first nine games this season he's averaging 26.8 points per game, which would be close to two points higher than the best mark he's ever had in his career should he keep up the pace, while also averaging 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Randle's career was never in jeopardy, yet he's still experiencing a resurgence of sorts in his second year with the Timberwolves. Getting to play alongside him night after night, Edwards has a keen insight into the season his teammate is having.
"He's incredible. That's my only word I got for him right now. He's playing incredible. Phenomenal."
