Anthony Edwards speaks after game two victory over the Denver Nuggets.
The Minnesota Timberwolves evened their first round matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Monday, stealing game two in Denver to tie the series at one.
The Timberwolves found themselves down 39-25 after the first quarter, but flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring the Nuggets, 39-25, to even the game going into the locker room.
A big fourth quarter, led by the offense of Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, and the defense of Rudy Gobert, helped push the Timberwolves past Denver.
Edwards finished the game with 30 points on 10-25 shooting and 3-11 from three, ten rebounds, and two assists.
Anthony Edwards Speaks
After the game, Edwards spoke about his performance and how he's feeling playing through an injury.
"Like I told the people after the game, it's been like a month and a half since I've played basketball, and I missed it. It's been something I've had my entire life. Just being out there and trying to enjoy every moment feels good," he said.
Edwards was listed as questionable going into both games due to a knee injury. He played in just three of the final 14 games in the regular season due to a knee injury.
He's noticeably been struggling with his shot in the first two games of the series, shooting 25% from three on 20 attempts. During the regular season, he shot 39% from deep.
He's also shooting just 38% from the field overall, 10% worse than his regular season average of 48%.
Despite his shot being off, Edwards hasn't lacked his usual aggression, and he's been hitting the boards, grabbing nine rebounds in game one to go along with the ten he got in game two.
Playing Through The Injury
Despite dealing with a knee injury, Edwards has continued to compete and hasn't taken any breaks. He played 38 minutes in game one, and that number went up to 40 minutes in game two.
He didn't shoot the ball well in the fourth quarter of game two, but he set up the biggest shot of the game, hitting Donte DiVincenzo for a three that put the Timberwolves up 119-114.
He also attacked more throughout game two, earning a couple more trips to the line and keeping the Denver defense off balance with his drives to the basket.
Finally, Edwards has done his best job as a rim protector, accumulating five blocks in the first two games.
