The Minnesota Timberwolves managed to even up their series against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, finding a way to win game four, 114-109.

The Timberwolves entered the fourth quarter down four after being outscored by the Spurs 28-20 in the third quarter. The Spurs pushed their lead to eight in the middle of the fourth quarter, which was their largest lead of the game.

The Spurs were playing without superstar Victor Wembanyama, who had been ejected in the second quarter after being assessed a flagrant two foul for elbowing Naz Reid in the throat.

San Antonio rallied without Wemby as Dyland Harper, De'Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle put their imprint on the game with their scoring and driving ability.

Timberwolves Explosive Fourth Quarter

Needing to rally in the fourth quarter or risk being down 3-1, Anthony Edwards caught fire. Down 94-86, Edwards scored five straight points to cut the lead to three. The Spurs fought back, regaining a 97-93 lead, when Edwards rattled off another five straight points to give the Timberwolves their first lead since the middle of the third quarter.

The Spurs forced the ball out of Edwards' hands for the majority of the fourth quarter, but his impact had been felt, and the rest of the team carried the game home.

Edwards finished with a game-high 36 points.

Mother's Day Victory

During the broadcast, photos of players with their moms were shown in honor of Mother's Day.

A young Ant was shown with his mom Yvette Edwards. The announcers noted the importance to Yvette to her son and his loss at a young age.

Speaking after the game, Edwards was asked about his mindset in the fourth quarter.

"Today is Mother's Day. I just wanted to win for my mom. It was just that simple. I couldn't lose this game for her, for sure," he said.

Edwards' mom passed away in January 2015 after battling cancer. His grandmother passed away eight months later from cancer.

Asked about his mom and having the right people around him, he replied, "The older you get, the more mature you get. It's not just about me, it's the people around me. The people around me are not just 'yes men.' It's not a bunch of people that are just willing to do anything you say. These people really want to see me succeed and they don't let me take a day off. They stay on me. I appreciate everybody in my circle."
