The Minnesota Timberwolves came into Sunday's game against the San Antonio Spurs expecting a tough test, and that is exactly what they got.

After falling behind by 19 points early, Minnesota rallied back to beat the Spurs 104-103 at Target Center and improve their record to 26-14 on the season.

The win gave them their fifth straight victory over San Antonio and marked their biggest comeback of the year.

Despite facing a 27-12 Spurs squad that entered the game as one of the best teams in the Western Conference, the Timberwolves found a way to claw back when it mattered most.

Edwards Admits Wembanyama Had Him Confused

After the game, Anthony Edwards was in good spirits as he talked about what it was like going up against the 7-foot-5 Victor Wembanyama, who guarded him on the final possession.

"I was lost. Did you see me? I was like, damn, do I take a shot, do I drive him? I was confused," Edwards said. "I was lost, I didn't know what to do right now. Him so tall, bruh. Like, he can take away everything. He can take away the layup, jumpshot, he got good feet, he can move. So, he is one of a kind."

Even though Edwards admitted he was rattled, he still found a way to hit the game-winning floater with just 16.8 seconds left on the clock.

Edwards finished with 23 points, two rebounds, and three assists on the night, with nine of those points coming in the fourth quarter when Minnesota outscored San Antonio to complete the comeback.

The star guard, who is averaging 29.1 points per game this season, also noted that he thought his decision to attack the basket caught Wembanyama off guard.

Edwards said he felt like Wembanyama expected him to pull up for a jumper instead of driving, which opened up the lane just enough for the winning shot.

Supporting Cast Steps Up Big

While Edwards got the final bucket, the comeback was a team effort from start to finish.

Donte DiVincenzo had a strong game with 19 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, while Naz Reid came off the bench to add 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Minnesota started the game ice cold and went scoreless for nearly five minutes as the Spurs jumped out to a 16-0 lead.

Wembanyama was a huge reason for that early run, as he finished with a game-high 29 points and seven rebounds on the night.

But the Timberwolves defense made key adjustments in the second half and held him to just 13 points after halftime.

The win keeps Minnesota in good shape in the Western Conference standings as they sit at fourth place heading into a tough road matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

After receiving "MVP" chants from the Target Center crowd following his clutch performance, Edwards will look to keep the momentum going against Giannis Antetokounmpo and company.
