Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves, which ended in a 115-108 victory for the Spurs, was highlighted by a back and forth battle between two of the league's brightest stars in Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards, who each scored over 30 points.

But, there was another moment late in the game between Minnesota head coach Chris Finch and official Tony Brothers that's been grabbing headlines as well.

With 5:12 left in the fourth quarter, Finch called a timeout to regroup with his team, but Brothers didn't call the timeout until 5:09 on the game clock and the lost time was something that Finch took exception to.

After the game, Finch said he told Brothers that he wanted his "three seconds back," remarking on how the missed time can alter the flow of the game. He also said that Brothers ignored him when Finch first called the timeout.

Brothers and Finch Go At It

Brothers was clearly upset with how Finch expressed himself and walked toward Finch while Minnesota was huddled during the timeout to have a confrontation, forcing Naz Reid to step in as a buffer between his head coach and the referee.

It didn't end there, though. Finch walked back up to Brothers to, as he described it after the game, ask where the ball would be inbounded, but Brothers was still ready for a confrontation and the two began jawing at each other again.

A crowd formed around the pair as Timberwolves assistant head coach Pablo Prigoni stepped in to separate the two and after the game Finch called the interaction "completely unprofessional behavior" on Brothers' part.

Edwards' Reaction

Most of the Timberwolves' roster were near Finch when the second confrontation went down and even if he didn't see the full details of the exchange, Edwards chalked up the tension to the high emotions that come with playoff basketball.

"It's competition at the highest level. We want to win. Finchy wants to win. Tony Brothers is Tony Brothers, we all love him. So, it's all good," Edwards said (via Timberwolves)

In a playoff situation, everyone's blood is always going to be up and with the game being as tight as it was with the Timberwolves in the midst of attempting a comeback at the time where Finch called that fateful timeout, there's an abundance of frustration that can boil to the surface with little provocation.

There's been no word form NBA officials at this time if there's going to be any disciplinary action to either Finch or Brothers for the exchange and for now at least Finch and the Timberwolves are looking ahead as to how prepare to shut down the Spurs in Game 4.
