The Minnesota Timberwolves began 2026 hot with a 6-1 record, then suffered back-to-back losses to the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs as they eye a bounce-back opportunity on Tuesday night against the Utah Jazz to close out their road trip.
The Jazz haven't done too much as of late, losing their last four contests but beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in their most recent win. Entering Tuesday's NBA slate, the Jazz and Timberwolves are separated by 13 games in the standings, as a Timberwolves win on Tuesday will inch them closer to a Top 3 seed in the Western Conference.
Looking at Minnesota's injury report, two-way player Rocco Zikarsky is ruled OUT for Tuesday's contest, as the team will not make him available.
As for the other players listed, Terrence Shannon Jr. remains OUT due to a left foot injury, as it will be his 13th straight game missed, lasting appearing on Christmas Day against the Denver Nuggets.
While he has had some good moments, it has been a rather disappointing season for Shannon Jr., as some expected him to step into a bigger role with Nickeil Alexander-Walker's departure to the Atlanta Hawks. He still has two years remaining on his rookie contract after this season, so there's still a chance he turns it around.
However, the most notable player listed on Tuesday's injury report is Naz Reid, as the $125 million star sixth man is listed as QUESTIONABLE against the Jazz due to a left shoulder injury. Reid left the team's contest early against the Spurs due to injury, and could be held out of Tuesday's game.
After a slow start to the season, Reid has turned it around as of late, averaging 18.6 points and 6.5 rebounds over his last 10 games. One of the most expensive bench players in the NBA, Reid's value to this team is significant due to his contrast with Rudy Gobert.
Tuesday night will mark the third of four meetings between these two sides, with the Timberwolves winning the past two contests, including a 40-point win in their first meeting of the season.
Heading into this contest, Anthony Edwards will look to pick up where he left off, where he scored a season-high 55 points against the Spurs in the loss. While the Timberwolves are 2-0 against the, the Jazz have proved they can beat strong competition, and aren't a team to overlook.
Tip-off at the Delta Center is set for 9:00 p.m. EST.
