This summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves made a blockbuster move and traded for Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball. Ball will be brought in to Minnesota to play as the second option alongside Anthony Edwards and be the piece that takes the franchise to the next level.

Ball is coming off his most healthy season as he played in 72 games and was a key factor to leading the Hornets to a Play-In Tournament appearance. He showed he can get his teammates involved offensively while still being productive himself on offense.

The Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly recently spoke out about LaMelo Ball's approach to joining the locker room and how selfless of an attitude he's had with the organization.

“The guy has no bad days… I think beyond the basketball fit with Ant, I think Ant is most responsive to joy and fun," Connelly said.

Connelly also mentioned how LaMelo is great at remembering names around the buildings and how personable he's been with the rest of the roster. To him, that kind of attitude could go a long way because of the grueling parts of the NBA schedule.

For the Timberwolves to make this pairing of LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards work, they will need to be on the same page on and off the court. Ball is assuming the role of the lead guard on a franchise that has seen success in recent seasons.

His expectations will be just as high, if not higher than anyone else's on the Timberwolves in 2026-2027, so his approach to the season will be crucial. If Ball can figure out ways to get his teammates involved, that will boost the team's morale more than anything.

The Timberwolves have multiple players who could be in for big seasons because of the addition of a playmaker like LaMelo. Terrance Shannon Jr. and Ayo Dosumnu are two pieces to watch for next season to take big leaps offensively.

Both players have shown in the past that they could score on a high level, and with the addition of a floor general like LaMelo, they could be set up for success more often.

The last thing the Timberwolves would want is for the chemistry to be off because of disagreements between LaMelo and the rest of the roster. If this team can put their egoes to the side, their ceiling can be higher than it has been in recent years.
