The Minnesota Timberwolves will be in action on Christmas Day.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have become one of the marquee teams in the past three seasons, making two Western Conference Finals and having superstar Anthony Edwards.

Edwards has become one of the most marketable stars of the new generation with his above the rim play and overall athleticism.

The league will put Edwards and his new backcourt mate LaMelo Ball on display on Christmas Day when the Timberwolves host the Oklahoma City Thunder in a rematch of the 2025 Western Conference Finals.

The game will be near the end of the night as it's the fourth game on the five game slate, taking place at 8 PM ET on ESPN and ABC.

Christmas Day Showdown

Minnesota being part of the Christmas Day slate isn't too surprising given the star power of Edwards and Ball, but it might be a bit surprising that they'll be hosting the game instead of traveling to Oklahoma City, given the team success of the Thunder compared to the Timberwolves and the often-praised atmosphere of Thunder home games.

This will be the first time the team will host a Christmas Day game.

No matter the reason, the Timberwolves and their fans will take having a home game on Christmas.

Being in the prime time spot will give fans a chance to check out how the Timberwolves stack up against a team that should once again be at the top of the Western Conference.

The Timberwolves have played four Christmas games in franchise history, going 2-2 in those contests. They lost to the Thunder in 2016, meaning this is a rematch a decade in the making.

They played on Christmas Day last season, losing 142-138 in overtime to the Denver Nuggets.

Another Marquee Game

The Christmas Day game wasn't the only nationally televised game for the Timberwolves announced on Tuesday.

The league also announced that Minnesota will open its season on Wednesday, October 21, when they take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Miami Heat in Miami.

The game tips off at 7:30 PM ET and will air on ESPN.

Miami and Minnesota made big changes to their respective rosters this offseason, with the Timberwolves acquiring LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets and the Heat acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.

This game will give fans their first look at the Edwards-Ball backcourt that some believe could be the best in the league, and Giannis in a uniform that isn't Milwaukee.
