The Minnesota Timberwolves may be in the thick of trade rumors, as they are pursuing Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, but there's still some basketball to be played at the end of the day. Coming off a tough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Timberwolves will look to return to their winning ways on Wednesday.
Entering Wednesday's NBA action with the seventh seed in the Western Conference, they'll match up against the Toronto Raptors, who are the fourth seed in the East, even though Minnesota has a slightly better record. But, with Toronto at home and two of Minnesota's top players being questionable, who knows how this will go.
Ahead of their contest against the Raptors, both Anthony Edwards (elbow) and Julius Randle (thumb) carry a QUESTIONABLE injury designation.
Both appeared in the team's 137-128 loss to the Grizzlies on Monday, with Edwards having 39 points. As for Randle, he's been a stat stuffer in his past two contests, combining for 15 rebounds and 15 assists in both games against the Grizzlies.
As for the rest of the injury report, veteran Mike Conley is OUT, as he's no longer with the team after it was reported on Tuesday that he'll be traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of a three-team deal. A veteran leader on this Timberwolves team, he's received high praise from his teammates and coaches throughout the season.
The rest of the names listed are the usual appearances, with Rocco Zikarksy and Enrique Freeman listed as OUT due to their two-way contracts, while Terrence Shannon Jr. is still OUT with a left foot injury.
Three of Toronto's four players listed are OUT due to being on two-way deals and with the G League, with those being Chucky Hepburn, A.J. Lawson, and Alijah Martin.
The only other player listed for the Raptors is Jakob Poeltl, as their starting center remains OUT due to a lower back injury. Poeltl last appeared on December 21st against the Brooklyn Nets, and has played just 21 games this season after having a career year in 2024-25.
With both teams rumored to make star acquisitions, it'll be interesting to see how focused each side is on trying to accomplish the task in front of them. Whether or not either side strikes a big deal, both are positioned to be firmly in the postseason race for 2026.
Tip-off at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
