The Timberwolves have added a new assistant coach.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are close to completing their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season, but they've also bene making some additions to their coaching staff as well and just brought in another helping had to back up head coach Chris Finch.
Per a recent report from HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Timberwolves are hiring Daniel Brady to be a new assistant coach in Minnesota.
Brady's Experience
Brady spent this past season coaching with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the G-League Affiliate of the Houston Rockets, after spending the past three seasons coaching under Tom Thilobeau with the New York Knicks, where he helped coach the Knicks to two Eastern Conference Semifinals appearances.

In addition to his time in Rio Grande Valley and New York, Brady has worked for Oklahoma City Thunder and Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder's G-League affiliate, in several roles that included player development and assistant coaching, and worked in video coordinator roles for both the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets.
This will be an exciting year for the Timberwolves as they look to finally get over the hump that is the Western Conference and make the final push to becoming NBA champions for the first time in franchise history, so Brady is joining the staff at as critical time.

Having another assistant coach with such a robust background in player development will be a boon for the Timberwolves, who have an immensely talented roster, but a relatively young one ads well that's headlined by players like Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and Jaden McDaniels.
Those three players in particular have little to prove in what their floors are as players, but their ceilings could be in the sky and Brady could be another instrumental figure in taking those stars to even newer heights.

Scott Wachter-Imagn ImagesIn his seven seasons as a head coach, Finch has proven that he's the right man to be leading this staff and this team and he's done a lot to win the respect of his players and for Finch to put his trust in Brady to join his staff so soon before the season begins is a great endorsement of the kind of expertise that Brady has at his disposal.
With it being so close to the start of the season though, Brady will certainly have to embark on a crash course to learn the system and the players that the Timberwolves have, but with the amount of talent that he has to work with, it should be a quick learning process.
