Pullin could be making a case for a NBA promotion.
The NBA Summer League is a prime opportunity for teams across the NBA to try out their newest and youngest players ad seeing exactly what they're capable of in a NBA game and sometimes, the results that they see can lead to major changes in the NBA roster as a whole.
Zyon Pullin could be having exactly one of those performances for the Minnesota Timberwolves' Summer League team right now and it could reshape how the Timberwolves structure their roster.
In the Timberwolves' last two Summer League games, Pullin has averaged 24 points, 7.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field and 40% from three point range and with the amount of pace and athleticism that he plays with could be a huge addition to what's already a strong guard core that Minnesota has built.
Building a Back Court Core
The Timberwolves already have an outstanding guard core with players like Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu, but adding someone like Pullin would simply be another dynamic young player that can help push the pace late in games and with the amount of talent that he's shown at this point, being able to develop at the NBA level could be a huge plus for Pullin.
Pullin has had a winding path to the doorstep of the NBA at this point, going undrafted in 2024 and making his way through the league on a variety of two-way contracts.
The way that he's been performing for the Timberwolves so far in the Summer League looks like the best example of his talent so far and with a greater opportunity he could take the next step into a truly good player.
The Timberwolves would be extremely guard heavy with Pullin added to the roster, but with the level of energy that the team is projected to play with, they may be able to just overwhelm and outscore their opponents to carry their way to victory.
Watching Pullin
Pullin does still have the rest of the Summer League to continue to prove himself, so time will tell if he makes his case evens stronger to start the season in Minneapolis, or at least stays on with a two-way contract to work his way up later in the season.
Either way, Pullin has proved himself to be a player to watch for the Timberwolves no matter what and Minnesota should keep a close eye on what Pullin is up to going forward.
