The Wolves will have some injury concerns heading into a big Western Conference matchup.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (15-9) travel to San Francisco to face the Golden State Warriors (13-12) on Friday night at Chase Center, but both teams will be dealing with notable absences heading into a big Western Conference matchup.

Timberwolves Injury Update

Minnesota will be without veteran point guard Mike Conley, who has been ruled OUT due to right Achilles tendinopathy.

This marks Conley's first absence of the 2025-26 campaign, and while it's unclear exactly when the issue surfaced, the team plans to give him at least a few days off before re-evaluating him ahead of Sunday's game against the Kings.

Achilles tendinopathy is typically a manageable condition that involves inflammation and irritation of the tendon, and it's not believed to be a serious long-term concern at this point.

The 38-year-old guard has averaged 5.3 points and 3.2 assists per game this season while coming off the bench for most of his appearances.

Star guard Anthony Edwards is listed as out with right foot soreness, which is concerning news for a Timberwolves team that leans heavily on their young superstar.

Edwards has been putting up 28.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game this season, and his absence would be a major blow to Minnesota's chances on Friday night.

Players like Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham, and Bones Hyland would likely see expanded minutes in the backcourt, though none of them can truly replace what Edwards brings to the floor on both ends.

Warriors Injury Update

Golden State will welcome back Stephen Curry, who is no longer on the injury report after missing the last five games with a quad contusion.

Curry hasn't played since November 26, and his return comes at an important time for a Warriors team trying to climb back up the Western Conference standings.

The two-time MVP has been averaging 27.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game this season.

However, the Warriors will be without Draymond Green, who is out due to personal reasons.

Green had an excused absence from practice on Thursday and did not get any practice time in this week. It remains unclear if he's fully recovered from the foot injury that kept him out of the last two games before this personal absence.

The four-time champion has been averaging 8.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game this season.

Al Horford has also been ruled out with a back issue that involves a sciatic nerve problem.

This will be Horford's third straight game on the sidelines, and Quinten Post and Trayce Jackson-Davis will continue to absorb the share of the center minutes while he's sidelined.

What This Means for Friday's Game

With Curry returning and Minnesota missing Edwards, the dynamics of this matchup could shift heavily in Golden State's favor.

The Timberwolves have been one of the better teams in the West through the first quarter of the season, sitting in sixth place with a 15-9 record, but they simply don't have the depth to replace Edwards' production if he can't suit up.

The Western Conference clash tips off at 10:00 PM ET on Friday at Chase Center.
