The Clippers could get a huge return by sending Leonard to Golden State.
Kawhi Leonard continues to be the unanswered question of the Los Angeles Clippers offseason, and while they delay their moves regarding him, if they're planning any moves at all, the NBA draft grows closer, and the possibilities continue to abound.
As time goes on, Leonard looks more and more appealing as a trade target, and it becomes more and more apparent that the Clippers are in a prime position to complete their rebuild at a rapid pace if they simply commit to moving Leonard.
A recent mock trade from Bleacher Report has played with that idea and has put out an intriguing deal between the Clippers and a familiarly-discussed suitor for the Leonard sweepstakes: the Golden State Warriors.

Golden State keeps being linked to the Clippers for a Leonard trade because of a handful of reasons, one being that the Warriors have grown somewhat desperate to add another superstar to their roster to try and win one last time in the Steph Curry era, while another reason is that the Warriors have the 11th overall pick to barter with.
That 11th overall pick is perhaps more valuable to the Clippers than any other team that could trade for it, considering the Clippers' goals for rebuilding and infusing the team with youth.

With the talent present in the upcoming draft, getting any extra pick, especially a first-rounder, would be a huge plus for the Clippers.
That situation is what informs Bleacher Report's proposal, which suggests that the Clippers trade Leonard and Derrick Jones Jr. for Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski, and the 11th overall pick.
A Huge Haul
While Leonard has been a highly sought-after trade target, this kind of haul is one of the biggest that's been proposed in most mock trades, though it does come at the cost of Jones Jr. as well, who has been a core part of the Clippers roster up to this point.

Guard-Imagn ImagesAcquiring the 11th-overall pick alone is a big get for the Clippers, but adding Podziemski is another plus for the Clippers, being a young guard, giving the Clippers an option to either move forward with Podziemski or try to move him as a future trade option as well.
When it comes to Butler, he would be another aging superstar joining the Clippers, which seems counterintuitive to the Clippers' plan and would saddle them with a more than $56 million price tag to pay Butler for the 2026-27 season, unless they negotiated to have the Warriors cover some of it.
Still, with the overall haul the Clippers would receive, taking on Butler could be worth it when looking at what Los Angeles could gain, particularly in the draft.
