At Chase Center tonight, the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves are gearing up to face each other for the final time in the regular season. The Warriors have dropped two of the three games this year, squandering a Steph Curry 39-point masterclass in December, then splitting the odd back-to-back in Minnesota that was overshadowed by the greater issues occurring in Minneapolis that weekend.
Back at home, the Warriors will try to come away with a split of the season series by breaking the mold on their current three-game losing streak and five losses in the last six games. Gaining some momentum here is of the utmost importance with a six-game road trip across the country next on the schedule.
The Warriors have been posting some absurdly long injury reports as of late, but Friday's edition was a bit more manageable in comparison.
The biggest name that sticks out is obviously Steph Curry. The two-time MVP was just announced on Wednesday to be out for another 10 more days due to his lingering knee injury, putting him in danger of missing the next seven games if he doesn't end up accompanying the Warriors on the road trio.
Joining Curry as out for the Timberwolves game are Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody. Butler, of course, remains out due to his torn ACL, while Moody will miss his fifth-straight game due to a sprained right wrist he suffered against the Clippers last Monday.
The Warriors rounded out the injury report with two questionable tags for De'Anthony Melton and Quinten Post. Although Melton was expected to play his first-back-to-back of the season against the Bulls on Tuesday, neither he nor Post ended up playing in that game.
Melton is listed for injury management due to a left adductor injury, while Post is listed for injury management for his foot. If both players are able to go, it might end up being one of the healthier games the Warriors have played over the past few weeks.
Though the Timberwolves have done a pretty good job of keeping their lineup healthy throughout the season, their superstar may be in danger of missing this contest.
Anthony Edwards, currently the third-leading scorer in the NBA, is listed as questionable for the game due to right knee soreness. It isn't uncommon for Edwards to pop up as questionable on the injury report and play through it, but those issues have typically been listed as a toe injury, so this is likely something else altogether that may actually hold some weight.
Joining Edwards with a questionable tag is trade deadline acquisition Ayo Dosunmu due to a right thumb sprain. Dosunmu missed their last game on Wednesday against the Clippers after playing his first 12 consecutive games with the Timberwolves. In that time frame, he was averaging 11 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal in 25 minutes per game off the bench.
The Timberwolves are still a force to be reckoned with, even if Edwards is out. Though it would make the task a bit easier, it's no reason for the Warriors to believe they'd have a win in the bag.
