There is 'cautious optimism' around a potential return for Steph Curry by the end of March.

The Golden State Warriors are finally getting some good news in the injury department. It's been rough sledding for them as they tackle some of the most important games of the season without some of their best players on the court, even resorting to signing new two-way players and playing many of them at the same time.

They finally broke a five-game losing streak on Monday with a win over the Washington Wizards, but still have a daunting schedule ahead of them with four games left on their current road trip.

However, some recent positive news may be able to buoy the Warriors and generate some momentum.

Steph Curry May Return By The End Of March

After weeks of seeing Steph Curry listed as out on the injury report with a knee issue, there may now be a chance that the two-time MVP returns to the court sooner rather than later.

On Wednesday afternoon, Shams Charania reported that Curry may return soon.

"There is cautious optimism that Stephen Curry will return to the lineup at some point by the end of the month. That's after I'm told he had a strong on-court workout Tuesday afternoon in Boston. Starting to run, cut, move, take some slight contact like the Stephen Curry that we know."

Charania went into specific detail about where Curry's at in terms of the physical recovery in his knee.

"The most important part is that he's not experiencing the swelling that he's had over the last several weeks or a month ago, when he needed to get a PRP injection due to those knee issues. Now, it's about him building on this conditioning, getting more and more comfort in that knee before he's able to make the call to make it back on the court."

Should Curry Be Returning At All?

It's been a hot topic of discussion of whether Curry should return to the court at all, or if the Warriors should shut him down for the season in order to preserve his health.

Currently, the Warriors are 33-35, sitting at 9th in the Western Conference. They're a game behind the Clippers for the 8th seed, but only 0.5 games ahead of the Trail Blazers, who are in 10th. It's a sticky situation, but realistically, there's no reason to hold Curry out.

Even if the Warriors held him out, they'd be unlikely to drop all the way out of the Play-In Tournament. If Curry feels healthy enough to play, then there's no reason they shouldn't try to win with him. As Curry has reiterated multiple times, he wants to be able to lead the Warriors through the Play-In and into the playoffs, just as he and Jimmy Butler did last year as the 7th seed.

Dropping to 10th and flaming out in the first game would result in a draft pick in the early-to-mid teens, depending on the lottery results. Though this draft class is extremely good, there's realistically no reason to think that the player available at 10-14 is so much better than one at 15-18 if the Warriors tried to make the playoffs with Curry at the helm.

If he's going to be back, things will be exciting and hopeful, and that's all you can ask for at this point in the season.
