Curry, Butler Provide Warriors Spark as Golden State Defeats Clippers cover image

Jimmy Butler scored 21 points and had five rebounds and five assists to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Los Angeles Clippers 98-79 Tuesday night. Stephen Curry contributed 19 points and had eight assists for the winners. Golden State won their second game in a row.

It was a good night for the Golden State Warriors as they remain undefeated at the Chase Center with a come from behind 98-79 win over the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday night.

Jimmy Butler scored 21 points and added five rebounds and five assists to pace the winners. Stephen Curry chipped in with 19 points while dishing out eight assists. 

Butler and Moses Moody both hit late, third-quarter triples to give the Warriors the lead as they contributed to a 10-2 run to take a 78-63 lead to start the fourth quarter,.

The Warriors never looke back.

Brandin Podziemski chimed in with 12 points to help the Warriors. Quinten Post had 12 points, all on  3-point field goals. He also had eight rebounds.

“To be honest, I felt like hadn’t made an impact in the first four games," Post said after the game. "So for me personally it felt great to help the team win.”

The Clippers were led by James Harden who scored 20 points in the first half to give the Clippers the halftime lead. Kawhi Leonard added 18 points and five rebound in a losing effort. The Clippers scored 14 points in the third quarter which led to their demise.

Harden drilled a 3-pointer with 41 seconds left in the first half to give the Clippers their first lead on a 24-6 run. The Clippers led 49-46 at the break.

The Warriors got Al Horford back from load management after sitting out the first game of the back-to-back against the Memphis Grizzlies. Horford came off the bench and played 20 minutes. He had two points and four rebounds. 

Steve Kerr said after the game that the plan is to switch between Podziemski and Post as the fifth starter. Kerr wants to keep Al Horford off the bench in his limited minutes. Curry, Butler, Draymond, Kuminga the four established starters.

Butler likes the Warriors depth and deep bench.

"It's a good thing for us," Butler said. "It's a scary thing for everybody else." 

Los Angeles only hit six triples on 33 attempts and shot 36.6 percent from the field. The loss was the Clippers first at the Chase Center in their last four attempts. 

Golden State improved to 3-0 at home. The Warriors will next play on Thursday night at the Milwaukee Bucks, who defeated the New York Knicks Tuesday night.
