De'Anthony Melton evaluated the Warriors' season ahead of the All-Star break.

The Golden State Warriors' loss on Wednesday night to the San Antonio Spurs closed out the first half of the season ahead of the All-Star break this weekend. With a 29-26 record, the Warriors are firmly in the 8th-seed in the Western Conference, 3 games behind the Suns for 7th, 4 games behind the Lakers for 6th, and 5 games behind the Rockets for 4th.

With 27 games left on the schedule for the Warriors, it'll have to be a strong push to the finish line if they want to avoid the play-in game and nab one of the top 6 seeds.

De'Anthony Melton Gives Thoughts On Warriors' Season

Warriors guard De'Anthony Melton touched on how he believes the season has gone so far from a personal perspective, especially considering his return from last year's torn ACL and his reintegration into the rotation.

"Me personally, ups and downs. I think that comes with the season at the end of the day. The biggest thing for me is trying to figure out how to get better and trying to figure out ways defenses are covering me, especially without 30 out there. Feeling the primary defender on me and just figuring out ways to also be effective for my teammates. Just got to keep figuring it out, that's all it is."

Melton also discussed his outlook on the Warriors' season thus far and the mindset they need to adopt moving forward coming out of the All-Star break.

"We're at 29-26. We feel like we lost some games we should have won. Sometimes, it feels like there's some bad bounces out there, some bad calls or whatever it is. But at the end of the day, none of that stuff matters no more. Once that win or loss goes into the column, that's all you can do. I think the biggest thing is just reflecting on where we can get better, what we can do. We know we're still a great team. We know we can beat pretty much any team. So we just got to figure those things out and stay more dialed in.

Melton Continues To Excel In Advanced Statistics

De'Anthony Melton has been excellent since he truly rounded into form after returning from his ACL injury.

Though he struggled to shoot the ball earlier this year, Melton's percentages have evened out a bit more, and his overall impact is undeniable.

Across the entire season, Melton owns by far the highest on-off net rating on the team. With Melton on the court, the Warriors are +9 on offense and -7.2 on defense, and with him off, they're -3.8 on offense and -1.5 on defense. All in all, that's a +18.5 net on-off swing — nearly 7 points better than Jimmy Butler's + 11.8 rating that ranks second for the Warriors.

Melton's counting stats are impressive, too, as he's averaging a career-high 11.7 points per game, and though his three-ball has hit a roadblock once again as of late, he's still putting forth an excellent season while on a minutes restriction. Once that restriction is fully removed and Melton can start playing more than 25 minutes in a game, it'll be exciting to see how he can perform alongside Steph Curry for extended periods of time.

The Warriors have a tough road ahead of them to make the playoffs and avoid the play-in, but Melton will be sure to provide his positive impact in that quest.
