After news broke of the shocking split between Chris Paul and the Clippers, Draymond Green called out the Clippers for this dramatic action.

One of the most dramatic and shocking front-office moves in recent memory occurred just before midnight this past Tuesday, when it was announced that the Los Angeles Clippers would be "sending home" future Hall of Famer and franchise staple Chris Paul.

The 40-year-old was on his retirement tour with the team he was potentially the most popular with back in the early-to-mid-2010s. Paul was already getting minimal playing time amidst the Clippers' horrendous 5-16 start to the season, making this transaction all the more puzzling.

It's been reported that the primary issue stemmed from a rift between Paul and head coach Tyronn Lue, with Shams Charania reporting on X that the two were not on speaking terms for "several weeks" and that Paul's vocal leadership clashed with the team.

Draymond Green Blasts Clippers

On Thursday, Draymond Green took to his podcast, "The Draymond Green Show", to discuss the surprising news and ultimately call out the Clippers.

"There will always be finger-pointing. That's just the way s--t goes."

"Holding management, coaches, and players accountable seems like something that needs to be done in order to win at a high level. CP has always been that guy to hold everyone accountable. The facts are the facts. CP is as great as we all know he is."

Of course, Green and Paul played together for the 2023-24 season in Golden State, so the vocal leader of the Warriors for the past decade has a high level of insight into Paul's personality within the locker room.

Green went on to reflect on what this could mean for how franchises treat their players moving forward.

"It's unfortunate. If that can be done to Chris Paul, imagine what can be done to the rest of us, so I think if you're an NBA player, this should bother you."

Paul's Storied Career Will Not End On His Terms

Since he was drafted No. 4 overall in the 2005 NBA Draft, Paul has been one of the best point guards in the league and has put himself on the fast track to the Hall of Fame. The 12-time All-Star finished top-5 in MVP voting four times in his career and cemented himself as 2nd in both the all-time assists and steals leaderboards.

Most importantly, many people would say that the Lob City Clippers, led by Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, were the team that put the Clippers on the map in terms of NBA relevancy. For the Clippers to treat a franchise legend like this in his final season, especially when considering how disappointing the start of the season has already been, is simply unbelievable.

Currently, Paul's contract is not technically waived. Until a buyout or a waiver is processed and Paul gets the chance to spend the rest of the season with another team, this transaction is essentially a permanent, dramatic benching from the Clippers.
