While Draymond Green can be over-the-top, his belief in Stephen Curry's golf game is no joke.

Here's why Draymond Green's statement actually holds a lot of value. More Videos

For the greatest shooter of all time, Stephen Curry’s shots are green nearly every time he lets it fly from over 30 feet. Off the court however, Curry might have another calling on the green when he decides to hang it up.

The four-time champ and three-point king is nearing the end of his transformative career. At 38 years old, Curry has one season on his contract with the Warriors worth over $62 million to keep him in the bay area for his 18th season.

Curry is likely to sign an extension following next season, yet the timeline for the rest of his career ultimately remains uncertain. What is certain, at least to his teammate Draymond Green, is that he can translate his finesse from the court to the course.

In the latest edition of “Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football Podcast,” Green revealed to his co-host Jordan Schultz that Curry’s golf game is legit.

“He could real deal possibly be a professional golfer,” said Green. “He can definitely be a golf pro, no question.” Thanks to his father Dell, who introduced him to the sport as a kid, Curry has already accomplished a lot on the green.

Curry’s Course Portfolio

While Green has a knack for exaggerating and blowing things out of proportion, most notably on the court, he is a credible source here. Green emphasized during his time on the course with Curry at the California Golf Club that he “didn't miss a single shot until the ninth or tenth hole,” and that, “it was like par, par, birdie, par, birdie.”

Curry also has a solidly stacked resume on the green, beyond an amateur level even. He is a scratch golfer in that he shoots right at or under par the majority of the time on the course. Only around 2% of golfers can consistently hit that.

Factor in that his handicap is roughly +1 and +2, that places him on par with some low-level professionals even, so Green’s assertion that he can compete on the PGA tour in the coming years really puts that into perspective.

Curry does developmental experience as well, competing in the Elle Mae Classic twice, a Korn Ferry Tour event. Most notably however, he won the 2023 American Century Championship, the premiere celebrity golf tournament out in Edgewood Tahoe Resort in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

What Green’s belief in Curry on the Green reveals

Green is not trying to diss professional golfers by any means, he is just adamantly acknowledging that is not just a celebrity golfer.

If you take into consideration that there is not one golfer who could even compete with any end- of-the-bench player in the NBA and that he could potentially get his tour card, that really puts Green’s statement into perspective.

Curry himself mentioned on the “Fudd Around and Find Out Podcast” that qualifying for the U.S. Open “would be another goal.” Green’s judgment and firm belief in his teammate does hold significant weight, and he may be on the tour sooner than you think.
