Gui Santos assured that the Warriors are not being impacted internally by the trade rumors.

Trade season in the NBA is one of the most exciting times of the year for fans of contending teams to dream of the perfect role player falling in their lap, while fans of selling teams get potentially optimistic news about furthering their rebuild or otherwise obtaining assets for the future. However, for as much as the discussion is exciting for the fans and media, it's sure to be awkward for the players, knowing there's a chance you may not be in the same locker room at the drop of a hat.

That's something the Golden State Warriors have been dealing with ever since Jonathan Kuminga sparked up the hypothetical trade machine by demanding a trade a few weeks ago. Despite relentlessly being in the news due to Kuminga's situation, and now being named frontrunners to trade for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Warriors have rebuked any idea that the trade is creating strife in their locker room and continue to stay focused on the season as the team is now.

Gui Santos Assures That Warriors Remain Unaffected By Trade Rumors

After the Warriors' close loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, Gui Santos was asked about how the trade deadline and swirling rumors have affected him and the team — a similar question Steve Kerr and many of the other players were also asked.

Santos gave a similar answer, refuting any idea that the trade rumors are possibly causing issues.

"We don't really think about that, we don't talk about that because that's the business. We know how that goes, we just (have to) be day-by-day. We got a game, so we're going to lock in and focus on our next game. Especially right now that we have a lot of games going on and not a time to catch a breath between, so we don't have time to think about it a lot. We just go day-to-day and right now, its normal — it's like nothing is going on in the locker room."

Santos' words surely appeases a part of many Warriors fans that may have been worried that the trade rumors in combination with Jimmy Butler's recent devastating injury may have been a strong double whammy of a situation.

Santos Continues To Thrive Alongside Primary Warriors

Santos has played very well since he started earning more minutes this year, and the net rating alongside some of his primary Warriors stars reflects it.

Out of the six different 3-man lineups that Santos has played the most minutes with, the net rating is superb when Santos is out there with the Warriors' playmakers. In 101 minutes, Santos, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green are +13.7 together — an elite rating that shows how well the two forwards mesh with Curry.

However, maybe even more surprising is how well the 3-man lineup of Santos, De'Anthony Melton, and Brandin Podziemski have been together. In their 72 minutes, the trio is an astonishing +29.6 — by far the best net rating of any 3-man lineup with at least 35 minutes together.

A trade will obviously shake things up if it comes, but Santos and the rest of the Warriors can do nothing else but hunker down and continue to play good basketball until something changes.
