Healthy Warriors Set To Face Potential Trade Partner cover image

The Warriors are healthy and set to face their potential trade partner in the Kings.

The Golden State Warriors are enjoying this stretch of home games and reduced back-to-backs. After a 120-113 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, the Warriors remain at Chase Center for a matchup with their cousins from up the I-80, the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings have had a rough go of it this season, to say the least, and the Warriors will look to snag what projects to be an easy victory.

Warriors Have Entire Rotation Available

Gary Payton II was the only rotational player to miss Wednesday's game against the Bucks due to a left ankle sprain. However, the Warriors' injury report revealed that Payton is now available to play against the Kings, thus giving Steve Kerr his full arsenal of rotation players.

The only remaining player on the injury report, outside of LJ Cryer and Malevy Leons who are listed due to their two-way status, is Seth Curry. The sharpshooter is still dealing with sciatic issues — he remains without a timetable for return, and may not even get minutes once he does.

Tonight's game against the Kings is a big one for the Warriors, not just against their fellow Northern Californian rivals, but also against a potential trade partner.

It's been reported that the Kings are now the only team still interested in Jonathan Kuminga, who is eligible to be traded in less than a week and has been at the center of trade discussions and rumors.

Whether the Kings send a player like Malik Monk to the Warriors or are part of a three-team trade, it seems more and more likely as the days go by that the Kings and Warriors will be having extensive conversations in the near future.

Kings Missing Two Stars

The Sacramento Kings are just 8-29 on the year — 14th in the Western Conference — and their odds of improvement are looking suspect, at best.

This is compounded by the two major injuries they're now having to deal with between Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray.

Sabonis has only played in 11 games this season after partially tearing his meniscus in his left knee back in mid-November. There is still no clear date for the three-time All-Star to return, although he has been active and participating in non-contact activities lately.

Murray's injury was much more recent and is a devastating one, considering he already missed the first 15 games of the year due to a torn ligament in his thumb. This time around, it's a moderate left ankle sprain that he suffered this past Sunday against the Bucks.

Murray is reportedly set to be reevaluated in 3-4 weeks, meaning the Kings will be down two starters for the rest of January, at minimum.

Of course, the Warriors have been subject to trap games in the past against injured teams, so it's still not a matchup they should take lightly tonight. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at Chase Center.
