How can the Warriors make the most of his final seasons?

Curry is at the end of his career.More Videos

In a season that saw its ups and downs and was littered with injuries, the Golden State Warriors enter this offseason with holes to fill on their roster after missing the playoffs in 2025-2026.

Not only are the Warriors dealing with a roster led by aging veterans in Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, but they'll have to find a way to replace the production of Moses Moody and Jimmy Butler III, as they'll miss significant time due to season-ending injuries.

Draymond Green will likely be brought back this summer as long as he accepts his player option, and Stephen Curry is entering the final season of his deal. Steve Kerr signed a two-year extension earlier this month, so the Warriors will attempt to stay competitive for the next season or two.

What Should thee Warriors Plans be With Curry?

If Golden State wants to be competitive with Stephen Curry in his final seasons, it would be difficult, but it is also manageable.

The Warriors would need to bring in a group of players who are ready to contribute but also mesh well within this Warriors offense. There's no secret that the offense runs through Curry, so Golden State would need players that can shoot the ball, defend the perimeter, and move the ball around.

Their first move should be to trade Jimmy Butler III. Butler III takes up a bulk of the salary cap space and is coming off a torn ACL injury. While Butler III provides great defense and offensive contribution, he is an aging veteran, and his contract does not fit the Warriors direction as a franchise.

In return, the Warriors could get back draft picks, a young player, or both. As the Warriors are entering a phase where they are not rebuilding but don't expect to be very competitive, it should be a priority to save up as many assets as possible.

Golden State can also target veteran players in this free agency cycle. One name to watch for that fits the Warriors' system for at least next season is Tim Hardaway Jr. Hardaway Jr., 34, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and is coming off a season in which he shot 40.7 percent from three.

Hardaway Jr. brings veteran presence while contributing on offense as a reliable second option. He is a durable player who would not be as costly as Jimmy Butler III. Players like him are the kind of players Golden State will need to target to maintain a competitive culture while keeping their budget.

If the Warriors can manage a roster with a mix of veterans and young players who are ready to compete, Stephen Curry can end his final years in the NBA on a high note.
