The Golden State Warriors are looking to make big moves in the offseason.
They have re-signed head coach Steve Kerr, which was perhaps the biggest move they could make.
They also re-signed Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and De'Anthony Melton to new contracts.
Draymond Green opted out of his player option and remains an unrestricted free agent, though most expect him to re-sign with the Warriors once LeBron makes his decision. Draymond could take less if it means getting LeBron.
They did lose Quinten Post to the Memphis Grizzlies, opting not to match the offer sheet put out by Memphis in order to preserve cap space in hopes of landing other pieces.
Adding More Pieces
While the Warriors haven't gone outside of their own team in free agency or made any trades, that hasn't stopped them from being involved in many rumors involving top names.
At the top of the list is LeBron James, who still reportedly has the Warriors on his shortlist should he decide he wants to remain in California.
Acquiring LeBron might lead to the team acquiring Anthony Davis, as it's been rumored that LeBron wants to reunite with Davis, who is currently on the Washington Wizards. LeBron and Davis won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
Finally, the Warriors have been linked to Klay Thompson, who left the team to join the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 offseason. Thompson won four championships with the Warriors. Thompson recently said, "Never say never" in regard to a potential return to the Bay.
A Fun Team
A starting lineup of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Anthony Davis looks like an All-Star team on paper. It's five future Hall of Famers who all complement each other on both ends of the floor.
There are obvious concerns about their respective ages and injuries. At 33 years old, Davis is the youngest of the five, and he's the most injury-prone of the bunch.
But on the floor, there is an obvious way for the team to work. Klay and Steph moving off the ball with LeBron finding them, Draymond setting screens, Davis rolling to the rim and opening up space.
There's already a built-in chemistry with Steph, Klay, and Draymond, and LeBron and Davis. They are also five of the smartest players to ever step foot on the floor.
Maybe it doesn't result in a championship, but it gets the Warriors closer and makes for the most interesting team in the NBA.
