The Golden State Warriors have leaned heavily on Jimmy Butler during Stephen Curry's recent absence, and the veteran forward has embraced the challenge while maintaining perspective about his role within the offense.

Following the Warriors' 114-83 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, Butler explained his approach to carrying the offensive load without the franchise cornerstone.

"I think it's a balance of being aggressive and making sure that everybody gets their shots," Butler said after nearly recording a triple-double against Indiana with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. "I love making sure that guys are getting their open shots, making sure their confidence is going early. Then when it's time to score I think I can do that with the best of them honestly. But before any and all that stuff I just think our pace was great, we were spaced incredibly well tonight on offense, so it looked a lot better."

Butler's relaxed approach has been crucial for Golden State during Curry's three-game absence due to illness, helping the Warriors improve to 6-5 on the season as of November 10.

In Sunday's win, he shot an efficient 10-of-15 from the field while dominating around the rim at his own pace, with his seven assists leading to 19 points for his teammates.

The 35-year-old's performance without Curry has shown both his versatility and importance to the Warriors' system. In Friday's 129-104 loss to Denver, Butler contributed 16 points while trying to keep the offense afloat alongside Draymond Green, though the road loss dropped Golden State to 5-5 before they rebounded with Sunday's dominant home victory.

Butler missed the November 5 game against Sacramento due to a right lower back strain, sitting alongside Curry and Green in what became a 121-116 loss that highlighted just how crucial he has become to the Warriors' success since joining the team in February 2025 via trade from Miami.

Since making his Warriors debut on February 8, 2025, Golden State has compiled an impressive 29-11 record when Butler plays, translating to a .659 winning percentage that includes a 23-8 regular season mark, one Play-In Tournament victory, and playoff appearances.

The team was just 25-26 before his arrival, showing his immediate impact on the franchise's trajectory.

Butler is currently averaging 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists this season while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and a career-best 40.9 percent from three-point range through nine games.

His efficient scoring and playmaking have provided the Warriors with a reliable second option who can control the tempo and create opportunities for teammates.

When paired with Curry on the court, the results have been spectacular. The two veterans have formed one of the league's most potent combinations, with Curry averaging 27.2 points, 5.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in their 27 games together since Butler arrived last season.

The Warriors posted a remarkable 22-5 record when both players were in the lineup during the 2024-25 campaign, showcasing their chemistry and complementary skill sets.

The three-man lineup of Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, and Green has been particularly dominant this season, posting a plus-37 rating with a 125.2 offensive rating and 23.3 net rating through 74 minutes together.
