The Golden State Warriors are back from the All-Star break, hosting the Boston Celtics in a cross-conference showdown on Thursday.
The Warriors have traded wins and losses in their last five games, losing to the San Antonio Spurs, 126-113, in their final game before the break. They have lost four of their last six games. Their record stands at 29-26, putting them eighth in the Western Conference.
The Celtics went into the break with plenty of momentum, winning six of their last seven. They defeated the Chicago Bulls in their final game before All-Star weekend, 124-105. The Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference with a 35-19 record.
This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams. They will meet again on March 18 in Boston.
The Warriors could welcome Kristaps Porzingis to the lineup as he is QUESTIONABLE with left Achilles tendon injury management. Porzingis is optimistic that he will make his Warriors debut against his former team.
He has been out of the lineup since January 7. He was acquired from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga.
In 17 games this season, he is averaging 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. Porzingis was traded by the Celtics to the Hawks during the offseason.
The Warriors will continue to be without All-Star Steph Curry, who is OUT with right patellofemoral pain syndrome.
The two-time MVP has been out since January 30, and there is no timetable for his return. Curry was putting together another outstanding offensive season, averaging 27.2 points on 39% shooting from three.
Steph's younger brother Seth Curry remains OUT with left sciatic nerve irritation. He has played in just two games this season, and hasn't played since December 4. As of February 18, he is expected to miss at least two more weeks.
Jimmy Butler is OUT after undergoing right ACL surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. He suffered the injury on January 19 against the Miami Heat.
LJ Cryer is OUT on a G-League two-way deal.
Jayson Tatum remains OUT after undergoing surgery on his right Achilles in the offseason. It is unclear if he will play again this season.
On February 8, it was reported that Tatum had progressed to controlled five-on-five scrimmages against the coaching staff.
Tatum's recovery has been well documented, and NBC is airing a special feature that follows him through his recovery.
