Moses Moody underwent surgery after tearing his left patellar tendon.

Moses Moody suffered a season-ending torn left patellar tendon on March 23 against the Dallas Mavericks, but with surgery behind him and what could be a year of recovery ahead of him, Moody is glad to be back with the Golden State Warriors and looking forward to what recovery could mean for him.

Moody said that the injury itself, which ended up being a clean tear of the tendon from the bone, was actually painless and that his doctors called the state of the injury a "best-case scenario" as it meant that it would be the simplest to operate on.

He said that the surgery itself only took 90 minutes and he looked to be in good spirits when he spoke with the media on April 10. Moody went on to say that he was happy to be back and just being with his Warriors teammates and being around the locker room has been one of the best things for him.

Reconnecting With the Team

"Just coming back and being in the locker room, feel like a player again, be on the sideline [and] coming to Chase [Center] and get the love that I got. I appreciated that a lot. That was big for me, being able to feel it in the arena," Moody said (via Kenzo Fukuda of Clutch Points).

Issues with the patellar tendon are nothing new for Moody. He said that he's been having issues with his knee, particularly the now-town tendon, since high school, possibly even going back further than that.

Basketball activities are obviously a long ways a way for Moody, who's just a few weeks into his recovery. For now, he's turned his focus to the other areas of his life that he felt needed addressing. He said that he speaks to his family on the phone almost every day now and he's been working on improving other areas of his life.

What Moody Added

Moody was a crucial support piece of the Warriors roster and he was experiencing a career year as his usage reached new heights.

Before his injury, Moody was averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. His scoring was an extra boost that the Warriors depended on and without him, even more on players like Steph Curry and Brandin Podziemski

The most that the Warriors can hope for with Moody is that he was a fruitful and speedy enough recovery so that he can be ready at least sometime close to the beginning of next season, but for now the good spirits that he's in has to be encouraging enough.
