Moses Moody suffered a devastating knee injury in the Warriors' overtime win over the Mavericks.

Evidence is beginning to pile up that the Golden State Warriors' 2025-26 season is simply cursed. With all of the injuries that the Warriors have had to battle through this season, both big and small, they may be adding another major one to the list.

On Monday night, the Warriors arrived at American Airlines Center in Dallas to close out their six-game road trip against the Mavericks. Ahead of the game, they got some good news that Moses Moody would return from a 10-game absence as he recovered from a sprained wrist.

Despite a great game that went into overtime, the game became a secondary thought with under two minutes to play. Moody stole the ball and had a clear lane for a breakaway dunk, but as he loaded up to jump, his left leg crumpled underneath him and he fell to the floor.

The image of his knee that the television broadcast initially showed on replay was gruesome, to say the least. Moody was loaded onto a stretcher and was embraced by his teammates as he was taken off the floor. Among others, Steph Curry looked visibly upset on the bench, thinking that may be another long-term knee injury coming to ravage the Warriors.

The Warriors ended up pulling out the overtime win, 137-131, to snap their three-game losing streak, but it's a bittersweet ending, especially knowing that Moody led the 8 Warriors that finished in double-figures with 23 points.

It was simply a shocking sight. Moody had just gotten back from injury and was meant to be part of the reinforcements for this battered Warriors' team, alongside Curry's imminent return. Instead, just about 2 months after they had to contend with Jimmy Butler's torn ACL derailing the season, they'll have to grapple with and overcome Moody's knee injury that, from first look, seems likely to be season-ending.

If it is indeed season-ending, this chapter will be closed on Moody's career season. In his fifth season in the NBA since being drafted 14th overall in 2021 and his first year under a new contract, Moody was averaging 11.9 points and 3.3 rebounds, shooting 40.2% on 6.2 attempts from beyond the arc, all in 25.5 minutes per game. He had blossomed into a genuine three-point threat that could serve as a point of attack defender for the Warriors.

The Warriors will try to regroup as they get back home after the long road trip. They have home games against the Nets and Wizards coming up this week.
