The Golden State Warriors are still looking at acquiring LeBron James.

LeBron James is officially set to leave the Los Ageles Lakers, informing the team of his decision to move on after eight seasons on June 30.

Befoe LeBron made his decision to leave Los Angeles, the Golden State Warriors were linked to "The King" in an effort to unite two of the best players of their generation.

Steph Curry was reportedly set to meet with James at some point in the offseason to try to pitch him on coming to the Bay. LeBron has a close relationship with Draymond Green and has always admired and respected Steve Kerr, who coached him on Team USA.

Still Smoke In The Bay

According to Marc Stein, the Warriors are "plotting other moves, if necessary," should LeBron decide to sign with the team.

They are looking to "make an additional move or two to maximize the financial flexibility that they can create so they can sign LeBron James."

Reports in recent days have linked the Warriors to Anthony Davis, who won a championship with LeBron in 2020. Davis is currently signed to the Washington Wizards.

The Warriors re-signed Kristaps Porzingis to a two-year, $40 million deal, which took away their full mid-level exception of $15 million that they could've offered LeBron. There are ways to get back to that number should LeBron want that much money.

According to reports, LeBron's decision won't necessarily be financially motivated as he wants to play meaningful and competitive basketball.

Can The Warriors Pull It Off?

They seem to have the inside track, but there are a lot of moving parts to LeBron's decision, and in the end, he holds all of the power.

Draymond Green declined his player option and is technically a free agent. He could sign for less, freeing up money to be used on LeBron. The Anthony Davis aspect keeps the door open, and the Warriors seem best positioned to acquire him, largely due to Davis' history of forcing his way off a team and onto the team he wants to play for.

The Warriors didn't play "meaningful and competitive" basketball last season as they failed to make the playoffs, losing in the second Play-In game, but adding LeBron and Anthony Davis would certainly put them in a playoff position.

The Warriors have made their intentions known regarding their interest in LeBron and the moves they seem willing to make to get him. The ball is in his court.
