New reports have added information and context to Jimmy Butler's status with the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors' offseason is set to have many moving parts. Over the past 12 years, the coaching staff has only had to change or replace assistant coaches, but this time around, Steve Kerr may be on the way out as head coach, making for even more uncertain times.

Additionally, key players such as Kristaps Porzingis and De'Anthony Melton will need new contracts if the Warriors want to re-sign them, not to mention the unknowns surrounding Draymond Green and Al Horford's player options. Pair that with the roster as a whole simply being in limbo thanks to Kerr's uncertain role, especially in the case of someone like Steph Curry, and it's a weird time in the Bay Area, to say the least.

However, one player has just been in the background without much on his plate: Jimmy Butler. Of course, Butler is injured with a torn ACL and likely won't be healthy until at least a couple of months into the beginning of next season. Thus, he hasn't had much discussion around him until a new report emerged recently.

Warriors' Offseason Reportedly Could Be A Surprise To Butler

This past Tuesday, The Athletic's Warriors Insider Nick Friedell talked about Butler's positioning with the Warriors and how things could be playing out differently than Butler expected because of this unforeseen uncertainty with Kerr's role.

"Jimmy has to be sitting there thinking the last couple days 'What the hell is going on?' because everybody thought there was one more year before all these questions appeared and after Kerr brought everything out to the forefront, there's a good chance that this thing looks dramatically different."

Friedell did preface this by saying he had seen Butler looking happy in the locker room at the Play-In game in Phoenix, playing with Gary Payton II's nephews.

"All I kept thinking to myself was 'Man, Jimmy really looks comfortable here.' He looks like he has found the niche that he was hoping for after Miami and the blowup in Minnesota."

Thus, it's an interesting split to consider if the revelation that Kerr's job may not be secure has any sort of effect on how Butler is viewing his status with the Warriors.

Butler Was Never Going To Be Traded At The Deadline

As this plays out, there's also interesting news to consider that was recently revealed regarding Butler's status at the trade deadline.

Initially, there had been multiple reports about his trade value and untouchable status back in February. Butler had just torn his ACL a couple of weeks prior, and with Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly on the table, there were rumors that the Warriors were entertaining parting ways with Butler at the trade deadline.

Eventually, no moves were made involving Butler, and conflicting reports had said he was ultimately available and not available.

Now, new reports have recently been shared by NBA insider Jake Fischer.

“They refused to discuss trading away Butler in February, league sources say, even after Butler was lost for the season to a torn ACL.”

Though it's now more than two months later, it's good to know the Warriors gave this vote of confidence to Butler, knowing he wouldn't be back from the injury until next season.

Currently, Butler has one year left on his contract worth nearly $57 million. In all likelihood, he'll play this season out as he rehabs, but all of this information will be something he has to consider when deciding if he wants to sign an extension next year, or if he even wants to remain in Golden State at all.
