By virtue of the Exhibit 10 contract he signed, which was only guaranteed through training camp, the Golden State Warriors waived guard Seth Curry Saturday morning. He is expected to be re-signed to a standard contract next month when the Warriors clear some salary-cap space.

The Golden State Warriors waived guard Seth Curry, the younger brother of star Stephen Curry, Saturday morning as his training camp contract reached its conclusion. Curry, an accomplished 3-point shooter, is expected to sign a standard NBA contract with the club next month once salary-cap space opens up.

Golden State is hard-capped against the $207.8 million second apron. They currently have $206.3 million committed to the players with guaranteed contracts. They will not be able to afford Curry''s prorated veteran-minimum contract until next month.

Curry has enjoyed 11 seasons in the NBA, playing for nine teams. He came into the league as an undrafted free agent. He has averaged 10 points throughout his career and has shot 43.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Curry did not see any action in any of the preseason games. Warriors coach Steve Kerr knows what Curry can do and he also knows he cannot squeeze him into the rotation until November.

“Because he got here late and just because of the nature of everything, I’m trying to see other people as well,” head coach Steve Kerr said to reporters after a practice this past week. “I’m not worried about Seth. He’s not worried about it. He’s coming along nicely.”

Stephen Curry had the following to say about playing with his younger brother and the talk that led up to his ultimately being signed to a training camp deal.

“It’s been good. The whole summer it was kind of rumored and teased a little bit. … I know how he approaches the game," Stephen Curry said. "I know how good he is. I know how he can lift the locker room, too. And not just that. He knows how to pick and choose a spot to build his role and his opportunity and he always found a way to get it done.”

Golden State also waived rookie guard LJ Cryer.

The Warriors will open their season Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena.
