Steph Curry is heading into the final year of his contract with the Golden State Warriors, and while many fans may be worried about his future, he continues to assure them things will be fine for the upcoming season.

Curry is eligible to sign a two-year, $136.7 million contract extension. He will make $62 million this upcoming season before hitting unrestricted free agency next offseason if he does not sign an extension.

Speaking to Anthony Slater of ESPN, Curry said about his looming extension, "It's going to happen at the right time, once I have all the information I need to make the decision that is right. The team's been great having that conversation back and forth. If I don't sign, it won't affect me in terms of my play or carrying that weight. But I'll make the decision when I'm ready."

Steph should be taken at his word, but fans are always going to be worried until pen is put to paper.

He has reiterated multiple times that he wants to remain in The Bay and with the only team he’s ever played for. He’s entering his 18th season in the league, all of which have come with the Warriors.

Head coach Steve Kerr signed a two-year extension in the offseason with the expectation that he would be coaching Steph for both of those seasons.

Steph is a veteran who has been through all the ups and downs of an NBA journey, and the contract extension will have no bearing on how he performs on the court, but if the team doesn’t play well, it will be a continued talking point throughout the season.

Fans will either call for the Warriors to make moves to help Steph, and experts will call for the Warriors to help Steph by trading him to a contender.

The expectation is that Steph will stay with the Warriors, and while the contract isn’t in question, maybe he’s open to taking less so the team can be more competitive in his final seasons. Draymond Green declined his player option this offseason to give the Warriors more financial flexibility, and while they were unable to secure a top free agent or make a major trade, Draymond’s willingness showed his commitment to the team and winning.

Steph has that same commitment, and may want to see how the season goes before locking himself into long-term money when he can help the team out.
