Steve Kerr is staying in Golden State.

The Golden State Warriors will continue moving forward with Steve Kerr as their head coach, and no one appears happier about that decision than franchise superstar Stephen Curry.

Following Kerr's decision to sign a new contract and remain the Warriors' head coach, Curry shared his excitement while also acknowledging the commitment required to continue leading one of the NBA's most successful organizations.

"I'm happy, man," Curry said on Dubs Talk on @nbcsauthentic. "It's just he had to make the right decision for himself. You want to make sure everybody's invested mentally, spiritually, physically, to what the grind is."

Curry's comments reflected more than just appreciation for his longtime coach. They highlighted the mutual trust that has defined one of the NBA's most successful player-coach partnerships over the past decade.

Since Kerr took over before the 2014-15 season, the Warriors have become one of the league's model franchises, winning four NBA championships while transforming the style of modern basketball. Much of that success has been built on the relationship between Kerr and Curry, whose belief in one another has remained constant through championship runs, injuries and roster changes.

A New Chapter for the Warriors

While Golden State has experienced unprecedented success under Kerr, both he and Curry understand the franchise is entering a different phase.

Several key contributors from the championship teams are no longer on the roster, and the Western Conference has become deeper and more competitive each season. That reality makes adapting more important than ever.

Curry explained that the conversations with Kerr have already shifted toward finding new ways to compete.

"We're just collaborating on new ideas to try to get us back to where we belong and think about it differently, maintain our culture and our core principles that got us to the level that we were," Curry said.

Rather than trying to recreate the past, the Warriors appear focused on evolving while preserving the identity that made them one of basketball's greatest dynasties.

Kerr Faces Another Challenge

Curry also acknowledged that today's NBA is much different than it was when the Warriors first rose to prominence.

"It's a different team, different era of basketball," Curry added. "You got to be able to adjust and adapt, and I think Steve's up for the task."

Those comments may be the biggest endorsement Kerr could receive.

Golden State enters the 2026-27 season with championship aspirations, but also with questions about how the current roster stacks up against the league's elite. Kerr will once again be tasked with maximizing Curry's remaining prime while integrating new pieces and keeping the Warriors among the Western Conference contenders.

For Curry, however, confidence in his head coach has never been stronger. Their partnership has already produced one of the greatest runs in NBA history, and with Kerr officially returning, both believe another championship pursuit is still within reach.

As the Warriors prepare for another season, one thing remains unchanged: Curry and Kerr will continue chasing titles together, relying on the culture and adaptability that have defined Golden State's remarkable era of success.
