Steph Curry's reported target return date from his knee injury has been revealed.

The Golden State Warriors may be on the upswing once more. Despite taking a tough loss on Sunday night against the Nuggets and sitting firmly in the 10th seed in the Western Conference, things can change at the drop of a hat in the NBA, and it may be no different in less than a week for the Dubs.

The man who has led the franchise for nearly two decades and saved countless iterations of this team may return very soon. Steph Curry has been out for over two months with a lingering knee issue that initially started as runner's knee and subsequently included bone bruising and swelling. There have been multiple re-evaluations and checkpoints for Curry to hit that haven't exactly been met up to this point, but they could all be knocked down soon.

Curry's Targeted Return Date Revealed

There have been a couple of different target return dates that have been reported to come from the Warriors or their training staff, but for the first time, reports have revealed a target return date set by Curry himself.

In reporting initially announced on Tuesday afternoon by The Athletic and then reported on Wednesday morning by Shams Charania, Curry is seeking to return on Sunday, April 5th, against the Houston Rockets.

It was reported that Curry had finally successfully gone through a full 5-on-5 scrimmage on Tuesday, and thus has his sights set on a return as soon as possible.

Charania did say that "the next several days are going to be a vital period to see how does his knee respond to the 5-on-5 and to additional workouts over the next several days. This is big time for Steph Curry to check boxes and see, 'Can he make it back and get cleared to come back Sunday, or Tuesday at home against the Kings?'"

He also acknowledged the multiple "starts and stops" in Curry's rehab, but said internally, the Warriors feel different about this time.

"Steph finally got in that 5-on-5 scrimmage. He's encouraged. My understanding is that he came out of that 5-on-5 well. Internally, the Warriors have framed it as a make or break time to either make it back or get shut down."

Curry's Return Would Be Massive

There's no doubt how much value Curry brings to the court, even if he needs to get back into game condition and take some time to get back into the groove of things after such a long absence.

However, if there's one month that Curry wants to return in, it would be April.

In his storied 17-year career, the month of April has been when Curry explodes for his best performances. He averages 27.9 points per game in his 88 games this month, the most of any month outside of an 8-game regular season sample of May. He has shot a staggering 46.4% from three in April and put on an absolute show back in April 2021 to will the Warriors into a Play-In position.

It remains to be seen how he'll respond to the rest of this week's workouts, and if he'll be his normal self on the court whenever that is, but if there's one thing Warriors fans should know by now, it's to never bet against Steph Curry.
