Stephen Curry is preparing for his 18th NBA season with renewed optimism as the Warriors hope better health can restore their place among the West’s contenders.

Stephen Curry is not taking another NBA season for granted.

While attending the Golden State Valkyries’ home game against the Dallas Wings at Chase Center, Curry spoke with the CBS broadcast about his offseason and the excitement surrounding his 18th season with the Golden State Warriors.

“I’m excited,” Curry said. “We’re going to take advantage of the rest of the offseason, but I think we have a, there’s a lot of health coming back. For me, I’m blessed to play this game. I feel good taking advantage of the offseason, and when September rolls around, hopefully these ladies are going to be celebrating some crazy things at the end of their season and roll right into ours.”

Curry’s reference to the team’s improving health is significant after injuries derailed Golden State’s 2025-26 season.

The two-time NBA MVP appeared in only 45 games while dealing with a right knee injury. He still averaged 26.5 points, 4.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds, but the Warriors struggled to remain competitive without their franchise player consistently available.

Health remains Golden State’s biggest question

Curry is feeling better, but Golden State will not begin the season at full strength.

Jimmy Butler continues to rehabilitate the torn right ACL he suffered in January. Butler underwent surgery Feb. 9 and is reportedly targeting a return in early 2027, potentially before the February trade deadline.

Moses Moody is also recovering from a left patellar tendon tear suffered in March.

The uncertainty surrounding Butler and Moody will place added responsibility on Curry and Draymond Green during the opening months. It will also require Golden State’s younger players to accept larger roles while two important rotation pieces remain unavailable.

Curry’s continued production gives the Warriors a chance whenever he is on the floor. The greater challenge will be managing his workload and keeping him healthy through an 82-game schedule at 38 years old.

Golden State has 15 back-to-back sets and a travel-heavy opening stretch, making that balance even more important.

Curry remains optimistic entering Year 18

Curry’s enthusiasm arrives amid questions about how much longer Golden State’s veteran core can realistically contend.

The Warriors did not make the type of blockbuster offseason addition that would immediately push them into the Western Conference’s top tier. Their hopes instead depend on Curry maintaining his elite level, Green anchoring the defense and Butler returning healthy enough to make an impact later in the season.

Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg could also provide needed energy and versatility as Golden State attempts to remain competitive during Butler’s absence.

The Warriors will open their season Oct. 21 against Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena. They will then return to Chase Center to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 23.

Curry understands how quickly the opportunities can disappear at this stage of a career. His comments reflected excitement, but they also carried gratitude from a player entering a season few NBA stars ever reach.

Year 18 will bring difficult questions about Golden State’s health and championship window. Curry, however, still sounds eager to find out how much basketball he and the Warriors have left.
