Steve Kerr Shares Thoughts on De'Anthony Melton Since Injury Return

Steve Kerr gave his thoughts on how De'Anthony Melton has played since returning from injury.

The Golden State Warriors have looked like a different team in the past few games, notching wins over the Suns, Magic, and Mavericks en route to their second three-game win streak of the season. Part of that has to do with the team finally getting back to relatively full health, especially when considering the return of De'Anthony Melton.

Melton was on the Warriors last year, but only played the first handful of games before tearing his ACL. It was a long road to recovery for the veteran guard, but he made his triumphant return at the beginning of December and has brought a much-needed perimeter presence on both sides of the ball.

Steve Kerr Gives Thoughts On De'Anthony Melton

After the Christmas win over the Mavs, in which Melton scored 16 points and had the highest box plus/minus at +19, Steve Kerr gave his thoughts on how well Melton has been contributing to the team.

"He's been aggressive since he came back. That's one of the things I love about De'Anthony (Melton), he's not shy. He really attacks the moment, his defense is excellent, and he gives us another ball handler out there."

Kerr made sure to emphasize just how long Melton has been out and reiterated his confidence that the rest of his game would return soon.

"You have to remember he hasn't played really for most of two years. That's a long time to be out. He's still getting his rhythm back. You saw when he made the three at the end, he put his hands to the heavens. He's had a lot of open threes that haven't gone yet and will start going once his legs are fully underneath him and he's found his groove."

Melton is currently averaging 7.5 points on just 29% from the field and 16% from three, but is also posting a career-high 1.6 steals per game and continues to bring energy and competent ball-handling.

Can The Warriors Remain Healthy?

Al Horford also made his return to action on Christmas Day after missing seven straight games and 11 of the last 12. He immediately made an impact, swishing his first four triples in the first quarter.

Horford represented one of the final hurdles for the Warriors to overcome to be fully healthy. Now, the only player on the injury report is Seth Curry. Compared to the lengthy reports earlier this season that seemed to include a lineup of players on most nights, a fully healthy team potentially on the horizon could do wonders in aiding the Warriors' momentum.

Reports have surfaced that Jonathan Kuminga is not expected to be on the team beyond the trade deadline, indicating a trade that would likely shake up the rotation once more, but until then, they'll likely have about a month and a half with an entire roster available.

Kerr's rotations will likely remain fluid, as they have for most of the past couple of years, but having the same players available night in and night out can help solidify who the best options are.
