Steve Kerr Speaks on Steph Curry’s Impact on NBA Fans cover image

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerry discusses the magical nature of Steph Curry.

Steph Curry is undoubtedly one of the top NBA stars over the last 15 years, with his overall influence on the sport trailing only LeBron James.

With Curry's career closer to the end than the beginning, fans from around the world want to take in the Curry experience, even with the Warriors on the road.

Speaking after the Golden State Warriors' victory over the Charlotte Hornets on the final day of 2025, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked about the support Curry receives on the road.

"It never ceases to amaze me, the support Steph has everywhere. It makes sense, given who he is, what he's accomplished, the human being he is. Whether it's here, in Brooklyn, 'MVP' chants coming from the road crowd, we're getting used to that. It's a sign of how Steph impacts people. There is something magical about him. Everyone here knows. This is his hometown. They watched him grow up. It's always fun coming here. Only once a year, so it's a special trip for us," said Kerr.

Steph Curry in North Carolina

On Wednesday afternoon, Curry dropped 26 points on 9-16 shooting and 5-10 from three. He led the Warriors in scoring while chipping in with four assists.

His 26 points are slightly above his career average against the Hornets. In 25 career games against the Hornets, Curry is averaging 25 points on 42% shooting from three. He is 18-7 overall against them with a scoring high of 40 points in 2015, where he went 8-11 from three and sat out the fourth quarter.

Curry's ties to North Carolina date back to his father, Dell Curry, who is an announcer for the Hornets, spending the majority of his career in Charlotte. Dell averaged 14 points on 40% from three as a member of the Hornets.

Steph played his college ball at Davidson in North Carolina, spending three years at the school and winning the NCAA scoring title in his junior year before declaring for the NBA draft.

Curry was honored by Davidson at the end of 2025 with Exit 30 to Davidson being renamed Steph Curry Interchange.

Steph Curry on the Road

While the Warriors haven't fared too well on the road, 8-12 away from home compared to 10-4 in Oakland, Curry's numbers have gotten better when he travels.

He's averaging 29 points while shooting 40% from three on the road compared to 27 points and 37% from beyond the arc at home. His assist and rebounding numbers are down on the road, but he has double the amount of steals. He has played three more games on the road than at home.

The Warriors will be back at home on Friday when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
