The Golden State Warriors had one final game to play on this road trip to bring 2025 to a close. The Dubs had gone 49-34 heading into their New Year's Eve bout with the Charlotte Hornets, looking to make it an even 50 wins on the year.
Behind a fiery offensive performance from inside and out and supreme ball movement — they had 35 assists, the second-most in a game this season — the Warriors finished 2025 strong with a 132-125 victory over the Hornets.
Steph Curry returned to his hometown of Charlotte for the first time this year and posted a team-high 26 points on 9-16 shooting from the field and 5-10 shooting from beyond the arc.
After the game, Curry discussed the type of mentality the Warriors need to maintain as they continue to find success in recent games.
"The resiliency of this team (has been great). We understand who we're playing against. It doesn't matter if it's on the road — you got to come with the right mentality, try to simplify the game on both ends. Toronto got away from us, but the way that we responded on a back-to-back and then a short turnaround coming here was a sign of who we can be. No one is getting ahead of themselves and we got to stay humble at this point knowing that we haven't really done anything, but we are building an identity as we go forward."
This was the Warriors' fifth win in their last six games, with the overtime loss in Toronto being the only blemish. It's been a consistent, torrid offense leading the way, as the Warriors have scored at least 119 points in all of those six games.
High-level shooting was on full display one more time in 2025.
It was an onslaught from all around the court, as the Warriors shot 55.4% from the field and an astonishing 49% from three, knocking down 24 of their 49 attempted triples.
Five players scored in double-figures, and another 6 players had at least 5 points in an extremely balanced offensive attack. Draymond Green posted a near-triple-double with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists in one of his best games of the year.
The Warriors put up their third-most points in both the first half and in a game this season, with 69 and 132, respectively. Though the defense wasn't great, allowing 100 points through three quarters — the third-worst mark this year — they did just enough in the fourth quarter to come away with the victory.
The Warriors now get to head back home with a successful 2-1 road trip under their belt and their record two games above .500. 10 of their next 11 games over the first three weeks of 2026 will be at home, but it will start with a major test against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
